Ysgol y Preseli was designated as an official bilingual school on 1st September 1991. Subjects are taught in both medium English and Welsh.

The following subjects are taught through the medium of Welsh:

The following subjects are taught through the medium of English or predominantly through the medium of English:

  • Biology

Some modules in Science are delivered though the medium of Welsh to all pupils in Year 7 but English is the main language of instruction.

The administrative language of the school is Welsh, as well as the language of all extra-curricular activities. The above pattern has proved very successful in all officially designated bilingual schools, developing students' capabilities both academically and socially. Parents who are non-Welsh speaking will receive all communications from the school bilingually.

We are confident that children from both Welsh speaking and non Welsh speaking homes will benefit from being pupils at Ysgol y Preseli.
